These are not two separate figured stones as shown but one double sided stone. The 400 grit side feels very rough, and the 1000 grit side also feels a lot rougher than my 1000 grit. It is also not homogeneous. This left my knife edge rough and streaked instead of a smooth edge. I tried some water on the stone and it still wasn't very smooth. Returned but will not buy again
