I love this combination of video recorder and DVD. It took a long time to find a device with a built in tuner that you can use to record when you're away from home or watching another channel. The biggest disappointment was that the signal to the TV didn't go through the coaxial cable. Only the RF signal is passed to use the tuner. You will need to connect one of the many types of outputs on the back panel to a video input on your TV or through a converter. With my old analog TV, I was fortunate to have a surround sound system to interact with. You must read the manual to get all the inputs and outputs of this device. It works great and has some great features if you take the time to read and understand them.
