It hurts quite a bit to open the door unless you have your hands on the outside door handles. Overall a good product. If you don't want to use the knee pad, it can be removed from the rest of the bag system. The entire unit is attached to the tubular door frame with Velcro strips. The knee pad also has a Velcro strap that attaches to the rest of the bag system.
