Review on Wi-Fi adapter TP-LINK TL-WN822N, white by Guanyin Lin ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, but having its own defects.

Compatible with the TP-Link WR841N router for use in conjunction with it (maximum signal strength is set). The driver for the Realtek RTL8192CU Wireless LAN 8022022n USB 2.0 Network Adapter is version 1027.4.630202222, which was released on March 4, 2022. (the driver was installed automatically without an Internet connection). It was possible to locate the orientation of the adapter and antennae that allows for the highest feasible transfer rate, which was 50 Mbps. The speed did not go above 30 Mbps with the antennas in their lowest position (and this is taking into account the fact that the router is located in another room without a direct line of sight behind a concrete wall). The adaptor displays the amount of signal strength in three out of four divisions. After one month of use, a glitch manifested itself in Windows 10 (Win10) (x64). Although the connection either broke or did not break, the adapter started to lose its connection to the Internet. I tried a variety of drivers, as well as configuring the adapter specifications and experimenting with different router settings. As a direct consequence of this, I was able to determine through experimentation that the adapter is not capable of withstanding a top speed of more than 43,000 Kbps. As a consequence of this, my preferences are currently set to: 1) Under the adapter's settings, select the "Advanced" tab, and de-check the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." 2) Go to the "Control Panel" menu, then "Hardware and Sound," then "Power Options," then "Change Scheme Settings." Make Adjustments to the More Advanced Power Settings. To disable the USB Pause Option, go to the USB Settings menu and select "Disabled." 3) Within the configuration options for my router, I assigned a binding to the IP address, and inside the IP address's configuration options, I set the maximum throughput for incoming and outgoing traffic to 40960 Kbps. (it is assumed that the distance between the adapter and the router will have some bearing on the maximum stable speed that it can achieve). The adaptor has not given any problems up until this point.

Pros
  • The installation of Windows 10 is quite quick. After connecting the USB drive to the computer and entering the password, I was able to access my wireless network.
Cons
  • Very susceptible to changes in the orientation of the antennas.
