No video or audio from iPad Air

This is the second USB-C to VGA adapter I've bought to extend my 2021 iPad or monitor. This adapter shows the iPad mirror image but no video. Videos on YouTube, Netflix, Revain Prime were blank with no sound but I could see the menu pages on all of those pages. As soon as I decided to play the video, the screen went blank. I unplugged the adapter from the iPad and the video and audio played on the iPad with no issues. So it was definitely an adapter. Really disappointed.
