I bought this to replace the front brake pads on a 2013 Audi S4. It wasn't clear to me how to use it properly, so I tried several ways: 1) - Open it up and use the insides to squeeze the plunger and close the expander. It would work if it could open further, but it barely opens enough to fit when the brakes are almost fully retracted. 2)- Close it and use the outsides to push the plunger and open the expander. It worked, but the piston, by design, pushed unevenly. Also confusing is that you can mount the head on the piston side (limiting the opening to half a turn) or vice versa. medium and more practical, I spent too much time figuring out how to use it. I also wanted to use it to remove the retaining spring by squeezing it, but it didn't open far enough.
