I just received this kit and the Dresden Cymbal Template kit. They seem thicker and stronger compared to templates from other brands that I already have. I was also impressed with the instructions that came with the templates. These templates are helpful when making smaller patterns than the AccuQuilt dies I have for the big stars. I find templates more convenient to use than rulers (probably my inexperience shows here). When I find I need specific shapes that aren't available in AccuQuilt stamps, I'll look for them in this series of templates. I think I should also refer to the larger books by Marty Michell for more information on how to best use these patterns.
