Having read others' reviews about the difficulty of getting the alarms off of glass, I chose not to use the adhesive on the alarm directly on windows or doors. When I installed one on a wooden gate I first put Gorilla Tape on the gate, then affixed the alarm to the tape. With windows and doors I first put blue painter's tape on the frame, then affixed the alarm to that tape so I will be able to remove the alarm without difficulty. For a screened window I choose to leave open in summer, I just lean one of the alarms against the screen and remove it when I close the window.The alarms are plenty loud to wake you up if someone starts tampering with a window or door.
