Review on πŸš— AUTOSOCK 645 Tire Chain Alternative Upgrade for Optimal Performance by Brent Borseth

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Less efficient than stock tires. Can't start it. It's hard to shoot. Broken after first use.

It was a waste of money. I got them because my Chevy Volt said I couldn't use chains. I liked the following: 1) easy to put on. Here's what was bad: 1) They had less grip in the snow than my stock tires. It was like wrapping a strip of smooth carpet around my tire; 2) Don't leave your autosocks on when the car is parked outside - this means you have to take them off when you park your car. If you leave them on, they turn into blocks of ice around your tires; 3) They are really difficult to take off, so it is very awkward to put on and take off every time you park your car. 4) I used them once and drove about 1/4 mile on fair roads. When I tried to take them off, they tore at the seam of a tire. Firmness is patchy.

Pros
  • Can be used with alloy wheels - although metal chains are not allowed, works on all vehicles with close clearance between tires and body
Cons
  • Operating speed
