An Android/iOS app is required to set up this device. And this app requires you to create or login a tp-link account. So for this device you need a tp-link account to set it up. This is entirely optional. When you configure a router, it usually has a local web interface to manage its settings. The default IP address for the web interface of this device is 192.168.68.1. However, when you visit this it just says to download the app. I'm sick of every company trying to cloud tether for devices that don't inherently require it. I could use a mesh WiFi router for a full offline setup, such as B. Home automation. And even for internet usage, having a tp-link cloud account to manage your wireless router is totally unnecessary. It's just something they force you to do because they want to get your email address and either sell it or hope you don't uncheck the box. By default, check the "Send promotional offers" box during registration. Absolute rubbish.
