Works well. very happy with it.

Works very well. Has separate volume controls for recording and listening. Cassettes sound perfect. without distortion. However, I did NOT use the software that came with it. I already have more sophisticated (and expensive) audio recording software installed (DC8 from Tracertek.com is highly recommended), so I went with this one (some reviewers weren't happy with the Audacity software, but I've found decent Audacity software elsewhere read reviews). I can highly recommend the device. Luckily this device has an AC adapter (I read somewhere in a review that it runs on a 9 volt battery). They record, so they have to do a lot of extra processing. These products are also weaker.) ONE THING. probably unknown to less experienced geeks (I'm not sure about Apple). USB audio devices often take over the computer and change the audio settings. To hear the recordings and get back to normal Windows music on startup and shutdown, you may need to go to the MAIN volume control (double click the volume icon) and change the property settings back to your computer's main sound card (probably set to USB now) . In general, it's best to stop recording, turn off your computer and REMOVE the USB device (so it doesn't change settings), then restart and check your playback settings. That's not difficult. I've only played one cassette so far, but I'm completely satisfied.

Cons
  • Large and bulky
