I would rate 4.5 if I could. I'm hoping the palette in the lid will work to hold a pad or two of whatever paper I need behind it. It is, but it's awkward to execute and the moving parts are a little cramped. But is it a good case with natural fine grain? Painted outside, raw inside. It's hard to find well-made, inexpensive wooden art boxes and overall I'm happy with this one. Deeper than I expected, holds up quite a bit and fits my long handled oil brushes. I have included photos showing how the 37ml tubes fit into each piece. I also like that it has loops on the sides,
