worth the price. Fairly strong flow even at 40% (lowest) with a 2" base diameter. I have this to increase the randomized standing wave in a 10g nano SPS dominant tank. This tank is subject to very high flow from the mp-10 and MJ-1200 return pump so I can't speak for a soft tank but it seems like it would be in a 10g or higher tank even as a standalone Great. Depending on what you're storing in there, with a tank under 5g, it might be a bit overloaded. I installed it opposite the mp-10, in "Power Transfer" mode, which is a rounded wave. The time interval setting is good and I have it on the longest period. I run my mp-10 in combination with Reef Crest and Nutrient Transport and added this to send a wave back there to increase turbulence in the tank and push the flow (polyps) back and forth a little more. It's very quiet and it's pretty easy to change the settings if you follow the instructions. The only problem I had, not really a big problem, was that the rubber pins didn't fit snugly on the wet side of the magnet, but it made good enough contact to be relatively strong. I really only pick one very small thing that didn't affect performance.
