Replaced the short whip antenna with this previous owner's 31" short whip antenna, was horrible and was able to pick up about 2 stations even in the San Francisco Bay Area. The scan function is now activated with this antenna. The radio is almost too sensitive. It picks up so many stations, some of which don't even belong to any because they're pretty weak when they reach me. But they are there. Real Real Stations I feel this antenna performs much better than the factory F250 antenna because I just can't imagine many stations being scanned in a regular truck so it's either as good or better than the stock antenna . I got lazy too and instead of using a real wrench I used pliers to tighten the antenna. Even then I didn't scrape the black paint off the base. So the color isn't cheap either.
