My G8 GT has good brakes to stop the car for short distances, but they feel soft and terrible. I installed them along with the bleed valves in hopes of fixing the soft pedal. I also replaced the front and rear brakes with OE style ceramic pads and new rotors. All of this combined makes for an acceptable brake pedal, if not very good. I don't think it's due to rust-free lines, but more to the design of the car's brakes. The car stops really well, it just needs a lot of pedal travel. If you want to increase the actual braking distance, I recommend buying better tires before replacing the brake components. Most large brake sets are designed to improve heat dissipation when riding hard for an extended period of time, not to reduce stopping distances.
