. I have a 96 lb male Doberman with a crazy bro temper. He's a big sweetheart and a good boy, but he's got enough attention like a mosquito when we go outside. I thought the training would get easier with age like it did with a female Doberman, but his concentration only got worse and he got a lot stronger. and used it twice before throwing it away. I was initially hesitant to use it but didn't really have any options. Didn't work, and the big edge would literally die instead of registering as a stop, even with all the stop drills and jerky and meatballs. It was also apparent that he didn't understand why deadlifts = bad boy, so it was like training for a really stupid but cute jerk. There's no point in calling him bad unless he just associates it with twitching. I have resisted being muzzled or collared because of the negative stereotypes people have about Dobermans. And there are so many owners who perpetuate Hollywood stereotypes by dressing their good-natured Dobermans in "cool" clothes to make their dogs look "cool." So I chose this soft muzzle. It has minimal padding, which is good because the harness is loose around the mouth. I needed enough padding to keep the fur from chafing too much, but not too much to make it look like a muzzle or constrain it, especially on a hot day (sun outside, tongue sticking out <3). He has a full mouth when the collar is in the relaxed position. He's a good boy and doesn't try to tear him away. And literally the first time I tried it, IT WORKS. He still likes to pull, but adapts quickly and I don't have to hold onto my dear life anymore. When he pulls he finds his head turning him back so I can finally walk instead of chasing his stupid ass. He doesn't care if he wears it off the leash and brings it back to have his hair cut. It really worked for us. I know that all dogs are different. But try this if you have a strong tractor with a short attention span for training. I'm just so glad I don't have to strangle him in preparation. He's such a good boy, he's just too excited on hikes/walks to pay attention to training. TIP: If your dog tries to take it off or finds it a nuisance, teach him to wear it at home for a while with lots of reassurance, kisses, and treats to get him used to it (and don't consider it a muzzle/punishment) before attempting it on the street. If they think it's an accessory, like a regular collar, they're less likely to take it off.
