They make great buns!

After looking at many different English crumpet/muffin ring products and reading many, many reviews I bought these rings to learn how to make English crumpets for tea. I've been using them to make crumpets every weekend for the last two months and I'm totally addicted to these crispy, spongy bits of buttery beauty. I also recently learned how to use the same rings to make cupcakes, although my technique still needs improvement. These rings have not rusted, warped or scratched my pans and are easy to use and easy to clean. It took a few tries to figure out the best way to grease them so the crumpets don't stick, but here's what I do now: After preheating the pan, adding some canola oil and spreading it all over, I place four rings in the pan give and let it get hot. Then, just before pouring the batter into the ladle, I add a dollop of butter to each ring. It melts instantly and when it starts bubbling I add the heavier-than-butter batter so the butter rises as the batter fills the ring and brush the sides with oil as it rises. When the donut is done, it will detach from the ring and the ring can be easily removed with tongs. They cool down fairly quickly after being removed from the pan and I wipe each ring with a paper towel, wipe down the pan and then place them back in the pan and add more oil for the next batch until all of the batter is done is used up . Happy times! Although my pan can only hold four rings at a time, I will most likely buy another set of six baking rings so I can make more than six at a time. Happy baking everyone!
