For a DIY enthusiast this is just the ticket. This is not a professional precision drill vise and you may need to work on it a bit to get smoother operation. The sticks don't move perfectly parallel, but I wasn't expecting that, they straighten up when pressure is applied. I took it apart, stripped the paint over the spray and sanded down some of the poorly finished areas to smooth them out and applied a light coat of lube to all surfaces where there was contact between moving parts. Works very well and I'm sure it will serve me well. This one weighs 4 pounds 3 ounces and the jaws open to about 3-1/8 inches, the stock sits flat and doesn't wobble. One more note: mine wasn't fully assembled (or was just loosely assembled and fell apart in the box). ), which was fine with me because it needed a bit of tweaking anyway. I'd say it's quite okay for the price.
