Review on πŸŒ€ Rio 90 Power Surface Skimmer and CO2+ Reactor with Secure Suction Cup Mounts by Joni Juenke

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Two birds with one stone!

My aquarium tends to form a film on the surface after a few days. This skimmer maintains the film and prevents deposits. I have a 56g speaker tank and that doesn't seem to be a problem. If you have a lot of floating algae or plant debris they tend to clog/reduce flow after a few days requiring a quick cleaning to be as good as new. I have found that when I remove the small foam filter pad from the skimmer the flow does not decrease for several weeks. Anyway, I don't use it for filtering. Just peel off the surface film. As for the CO2 reactor function, it seems to be good at breaking down the gas into tiny bubbles. Since this is a surface skimmer, the CO2 emissions in the pool are of course higher than most would like. You can solve this problem by placing it next to your "normal" filter outlet to better disperse the bubbles. I encourage you to find a similarly priced device that does both well. We've been using it for four months now with no problems. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase. Annual update: This device is still working and I haven't had any issues with it. Algae builds up on the air intake every few weeks, but it's pretty easy to clean. I have a separate CO2 monitor and this keeps it at the ideal level.
