My first tripod was the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AB 100 aluminum tripod set and it works really well. There are a few things I won't discuss here, but the main issue was that it was so heavy and bulky that I couldn't take it anywhere. I wanted something that I could easily pack in my carry-on when traveling and also easily take with me on camping trips. This tripod is very light and easily folds to fit in most carry-on bags. I have a Nikon D500 with a rechargeable battery and a Sigma 17-50 lens and it seemed very stable to me and I never felt like it might fall over. While it wouldn't be great for a telephoto lens, I think it's a safe bet for just about anyone looking for a tripod for flying or that's just easier to carry than a full-size tripod. If you shoot professional landscape photos or use heavier gear, this probably isn't the best choice. This is my first Arca Swiss compatible tripod so I have no comparison but when using the Arca plate that came with the Peak Design strap it doesn't seem to fit as snugly as I would like. . It held my camera perfectly and was stable, but it doesn't seem to block and grab much. Otherwise this is a great tripod that will find wide use.
