I have been using the budget 50 / 1.8II for a long time (in conjunction with the Canon50D, there is still a zoom 24-105 / 4L), and then I took a friend to test 50 / 1,2L for a couple of days. I shot a rose stem with leaves with both lenses by the window during the day, setting the same aperture of 1.8 and shutter speed of 1/60 (in RAW, of course). I shot both handheld and with a tripod. There is no difference in sharpness, color reproduction is slightly better (but very, very slightly, which can be neglected or corrected if necessary during processing). Bokeh did not compare, because. the background was indistinct. Focusing is much quieter. More guaranteed sharpness at 50/1.2L due to the weight of the lens (50/1.8 is too light, the camera "jumps" in the hand, you need to remember this all the time when shooting at a slow shutter speed). Conclusion: a 10-fold (!) difference in the price of lenses did not at all give the difference in the picture I expected. Once again I was convinced - before you buy something, you must PERSONALLY try to test the product. Therefore, I won’t dare to switch (buy) to the Canon 5D MII camera for the time being. while I don’t have such acquaintances who can give this camera a test for a day or two. The fact is that I saw a lot of excellent shots (in the sense of technically excellent ones) taken by the Canon 5D MII, as well as bad shots taken by the same camera. It is clear that often the main thing is not the camera, but the hands and head, but I have to check and make sure PERSONALLY) ).
