Originally ordered to replace a tube light of a single color, having color options was a nice feature, even if I leave them permanently set only on one color. The cord is THIN, but is holding up okay to snow and rain so far. The light is surprisingly bright for having no light tube to amplify and disperse--it just comes from the little embedded LEDs. The color change feature is nice to have, but the lights.well they're a little peculiar sometimes. Occasionally there will just be a few lights, randomly placed, that refuse to be the right color. Sometimes it's because the R/G/B element needed to make them the right refuses to turn on, but sometimes it's just a random other color. And then they fix themselves! There's some kind of timer built in where they.reset? I'm not sure. They blink and then they're back on, maybe an hour or two, and sometimes that fixes the ones that were the wrong color. If you're truly looking for a single steady color, these may not be for you, but otherwise they're definitely nice.
