Mother has 15 years Alzheimer's. She's had it for a month now and keeps it up most of the day, playing tunes and enjoying the blinking star every day since I got it for her (albeit upside down). I recommend sooner rather than later. The original batteries lasted 5 weeks without a shutdown. The instruction manual says the batteries are on the top of the spine of the book. The top of the slot is the speaker enclosure. You know - with small speaker holes. Good luck if you hit this <roll your eyes>. You will need a small screwdriver and two AAA batteries. Note the orientation of the battery before removing the old batteries.
