At first I was very impressed with the build quality of this grinder, especially considering the price. Heihox is undeniably a good product and all parts are solid with an impressive fit and finish. However, there is a "you get what you pay for" element. There's a reason manual grinders that Heihox competes with (1Zpresso, Chestnut, etc.) cost 2-3 times more. These models can effectively grind from the finest espresso powder to the coarsest cold drink. Heihox is effective for medium to coarse grinds and above, but not for finer grinds. I'm already using 18g of beans per 10oz of water (above the usual ratio) and getting a weak coffee. Using more shouldn't be necessary and would be much more expensive. I use freshly roasted, locally sourced coffee with Oxo Pour Over with water tank on weekdays (for sheer convenience) and Aeropress on weekends. A few months ago, my coffee didn't have much body, the flavor and aroma were significantly reduced, and the water in my pour over was bleeding too quickly. I also couldn't "bloom" the earth like it used to. During that time I've tried changing grains, using more and less grind size, adjusting the grind size, etc. Nothing has changed and I've never had problems like this before. The only change I noticed was in the elimination process. I have a Heiox grinder in my coffee making routine. The instructions for the product advise not to set the grinder below 6 "clicks" to avoid damaging the grindstones. They recommend 15-25 clicks per pour, which is VERY rough. This means that you have already been deprived of the possibility of real, medium-fine grinding. I compared the 6 click setting to my previous grinder (Hario Skerton Pro) and the Heihox was at least twice as coarse. The territory was definitely more than just grains of sand, and that explains all the problems mentioned above. The water just can't stay in contact with the soil long enough to bloom or extract the right amount of scent. Again I am very happy with the build quality and the speed at which it grinds is a welcome bonus. But I can only recommend this for a french press or cold brew as they use a coarser grind. [UPDATE]: After just a few months, the magnet that connects the stylus to the device has significantly deteriorated. The pommel isn't as "catchy" as it used to be, so it often comes loose when sharpening. Also, the silicone sleeve has stretched and needs to be repositioned every time I grind. After all, the paint peels off the metal even with normal use. The grinder itself is still in good condition, but now I have some valid concerns about the build quality.
