I don't think this performs as well as advertised, but it certainly offers a noticeable cycle speedup. I used this product on a 38 gallon marine aquarium. There's a large canister of Matrix in the tank and lots of live rock and sand. Placed it in the aquarium on Tuesday and performed the fishless cycle instructions with her ammonia. The following Friday (11 days) I went on vacation and the ammonia level was still high after not adding it for several days. Throw in a bottle of Fluval bacteria (a little variety would be nice, wouldn't it?) and off you go on vacation. Came back the following Saturday ie just three weeks before ideal levels of ammonia, nitrites and expected nitrates. Changed the water and added two clowns, let's go. In my opinion, the double whammy of bacteria finished the cycle in under 3 weeks, so it's worth the investment. I think the old method I did usually lasts at least 4 and sometimes up to 6 weeks so I would use this product again. I'm just not sure I'd ride this to fish bike, although that's just my preference.
