1) The air pump is quiet - the bubbles make more noise than the pump. 2) Tiny bubbles rise up the rigid tube, pass through the activated carbon and filter, and draw out the water for purification. 3) The hard plastic tube is too loose - I'm afraid air will push the tube out of the base. 4) The airstone is too big - tiny bubbles go both up and down, which is a problem because air collects under the base and then blows out the side every 30 seconds. 5) Tiny bubbles interfere too much and have too much time to recombine, reducing water column pressure - not the best design. 6) Air hoses are enough to go up and down. to the table with my 2 gallon glass jar. Not much, but it works and costs about the same as Prime shipping. Although I was hoping for a better fit and finish.
