Ideal for small aquariums

My mother decided she needed a female betta but decided against a large aquarium. I didn't want to have to keep changing the water, so I went looking for a filter. I chose this filter because I liked that it doesn't take up much space in the aquarium. seems to work great for a 1 gallon tank and there is very little flow. The betta is happy, so is my mom, and I don't have to keep changing the water, so I'm happy too.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Expensive

Fits 2-3 gallon or less tank

Good for small bowl/tank. I would say no more than 2 liters. The bubbles can be quite strong and make the water hard for my betta. So I keep it low. So far the first filter changed after 2 weeks. At this frequency it can get expensive. The aerator that comes with the kit is good and fairly quiet. You don't need to buy another bubbler, as the "Customers often buy together" section suggests. (This bubbler is way louder, you won't like it.) I use the one that came with the kit.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some difficulty

Three things to know about this filter: 1) so loud. omg so loud I had to replace the air pump with another one (which I bought from PetSmart for $92) that keeps all the air under the filter until it erupts with a horrific burp that startles everyone, including fish, who hears it. I had to drill additional holes to allow air to escape more easily. 3) You can't thread the included air hose through the tiny hole in the bottom of the filter so I had to take a drill and enlarge the hole. What a herd

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Hard to say

1) The air pump is quiet - the bubbles make more noise than the pump. 2) Tiny bubbles rise up the rigid tube, pass through the activated carbon and filter, and draw out the water for purification. 3) The hard plastic tube is too loose - I'm afraid air will push the tube out of the base. 4) The airstone is too big - tiny bubbles go both up and down, which is a problem because air collects under the base and then blows out the side every 30 seconds. 5) Tiny bubbles interfere too much and have too

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • How it works

Two happy goldfish!

So far, so good. My new bowl of water was ready and waiting. Small 1/2 gallon. The bowl I used to have for 2 goldfish was too small for 2. It got cloudy and had to be cleaned/water changed every day. When I received my pump/bubbler I was very pleased to find that it was in excellent condition and I had no trouble fitting it into my new larger 1 gallon bottle. Bowl. I have 2 happy fish and they already enjoy playing bubbles, even the big bubbles that pop up every few seconds. Thanks very much…
