I have tried about 6-7 different sets/brands of skate knee pads and they are perfect (although they are made for cycling). They are very flexible and comfortable, I hardly remember them being there. They're also thinner than most knee pads and yes, I've fallen many times on smooth and rough concrete and rocks. No problems and felt almost nothing. Be sure to buy the recommended size with correct measurements on the brand's website! Do not increase or decrease the size. I'm 5ft 11in, 150lbs and wear medium sized clothing on my knees and elbows. The medium would probably fit someone slightly taller than me because there is room in my upper. However, there is an elastic band to help you achieve a snug fit and some gel grips in tops that grip your skin to prevent slipping. 9/10
