I have been welding for many years but have never tried it. I saw this welder and decided to try to fix a small car and a gate in a house. After watching YT's numerous arc welding basics videos, I felt confident enough to give it a try. I unpacked the box and found everything I needed was there. The included eye protection is really nothing more than a mask on a plastic stick, so I opted for a self-darkening mask so I could see what the heck I was doing. You're only $40 on Revain. I grabbed some scrap steel and my new helmet and headed to the races. I've been using this welder for practice for the past few months and finally made the welds I needed. I found the whole setup very light and easy to move around, the 120v means I can move it anywhere around my house and the amp settings were very consistent. Using rods of different diameters and compositions, I've been able to melt some decent beads on metal of varying thicknesses. I've even attempted to weld some stainless steel and steel rods with a 308L rod but the skill required to do so is beyond what I can do at the moment. . However, as I improve over time, I have no doubt that this welder will be up to the task. I am very happy with it.
