First of all, if you still have the stock headlight, get rid of it immediately and replace it with this one. The amount of light from the standard headlight is nothing. I just installed this on my 2000 Sportster 883 Hugger which I have owned since 2000 and have run with the stock headlight for 16 years. I had no idea how dim the stock headlight was until recently driving back to Chicago from Detroit. I know you're probably saying how I haven't noticed this for 16 years? Well, I drive mostly during the day, and when I drive at night, it's mostly in places with lots of streetlights. When I ride my bike, I ride sunrise to sunset, so overnight rides will be minimal. In short, on the way back from Detroit which took 5 hours, 3 of them were at night. This was the first time my helmet had a chrome bubble guard and I realized how weak my headlight was compared to most cars on the road. That's when I realized I really needed to upgrade my headlight and I knew I wanted to use LEDs. After reviewing the search results, I settled on Eagle Lights' Daymaker II. It was very easy to install, literally unplugged the old one and plugged in the new one, popped both mold rings back in and let go. I waited into the night to get out of town for my first ride with a new headlight and couldn't believe the difference. The light beam was wide and the light was super white and very bright. Motorway kilometer markers and exit signs were very easy to see. The light travels much farther forward and you can see a clear path ahead, as opposed to a standard headlight that protrudes about 10 feet forward at most. And since it's an LED light, it doesn't draw as much power, which means it doesn't generate as much heat. It was the 90's in Chicago today and at night it was still the 80's. After a 50-mile ride, the headlight and housing were a bit warm and didn't burn my hand when I touched them. Don't make my mistake, replace your stock headlight with this one and you'll feel a lot safer driving at night. I still can't believe I've been driving with the stock headlight for 16 years now. A small note: I'm not sure if later models have the same problem as mine, but there isn't much room in the headlight housing. I had a wiring harness where you plug the 3 pin connector from the headlight and then there were other wires that I have no idea what they are for. It took a little effort to play around with where to place all the wires behind this headlight. And fits well, just a little tight.
