I should have known better than to buy a strap with no strap holes but was hoping it could be strong enough to make it work. Not as much. It's thin and thin and folds into an accordion no matter how loose you wear it when you first sit down or bend over. The pull tab on the buckle stretches the webbing a bit and looks cheap. Rather spend a little more and buy something else. FYI, I have no idea WHAT the metal part is, unless you mean the silver buckle, it's a plain white woven lightweight plastic.
