I'm primarily a Canon photographer but after buying and testing many fast and wide angle astro lenses for my Canon body I was left hoping for something better. The best I've found (Tamron 15-30 f/2.8) is a relatively good astro lens with low coma and a wide field of view, but I really wanted something faster. When I saw the first Astro reviews of this Sony 24mm f/1.4 lens I knew I had to try it, so I picked up the A7iii and this lens and have been using it for a few months now. Bottom line, I'm very impressed. Star distortion is very low. I tested the Sigma Art 20mm f/1.4 and found it useless, but this Sony is much better. At f/1.4 there is a slight lump in the extreme corners that you can see at 100% zoom, but at f/2.0 it almost disappears. I also like the sharpness and find the size and weight excellent for the image quality this lens delivers. I still prefer my Canon for daytime use (love the optical viewfinder), but for wide-angle nighttime shots I prefer the Sony A7+ 24mm f/1.4.
