I bought this to use on our boat with two dogs. The pet carrier is a good size, holds 24-28 cups of food (my dogs kept just about the food for a week) and is easy to transport and store. It's not exactly waterproof - light repellent yes, water repellent no. After ten days in humid conditions, the granules' oils seeped through the bottom of the bag, explaining the faint dog food smell and leaving a bizarre red stain on the floor of the cabinet it was stored in. But the food didn't get soggy or spoiled during the time we were on the boat in very hot and humid conditions. The side pocket is useful for storing small packages of "things" you might need for the dog and there is a bottom storage pocket which came in handy for storing the collapsible shovel that I use. This is a handy container for short trips and will come in handy for bringing food to the kennel. I would look for something more "leach-proof" for a longer ride.
