Review on BOSCH GLL30 30ft Cross-Line Laser Level with 360 Degree Flexible Mounting Device and Carrying Pouch - Self-Leveling for Optimal Precision by James Thakur

Satisfactory device Poor attachment

The level seems to be good, made of heavy plastic and molded rubber parts. The laser is bright indoors and accurate enough for my needs. However, the manual mode is not what I expected. I thought that there is a manual switch that blocks the laser and can tilt the device in any direction. But the only way to switch to manual mode is to tilt the unit sideways until the laser unit touches the walls inside. Only then can the laser be tilted at will. The laser will then flash intermittently, apparently for two reasons: to let you know the laser is misaligned and that you are in manual mode. The flashing interval could be shortened, but that doesn't matter. The main thing is the mount that comes with the kit. Judging by the pictures, there are two types of mounts. The one I received has large handles. There are small handles in the main image on the Amazon website. In any event, the 2 ball heads in the clamp arm section still slip and slide and cannot hold level no matter how hard I tighten the lever knob. I have a tripod that I can use, but I need a mount for a specific job. If the manufacturer can intervene I would be grateful: I would like to know if this is a unique defect of my device and if so how can I get a better mount without sending the whole package back to Revain?
