This item works as advertised. My goal for this product was to use a single coaxial cable from the basement to the attic without running a separate ethernet cable due to the difficulty of running it inside walls and space limitations. The coaxial cable I had doesn't have a splitter. It was a direct route from the basement to the attic. So I set up a device in the basement - the ethernet cable from the router is connected to the ethernet input of the device, and the coax cable in the basement is connected to the coax input; and connected to the electricity. A second unit is installed in the attic - connected coax and ethernet cable from the unit to the 8 port switch and from the switch I have the ethernet connection connected to all my bedrooms. I have a 200Mbps connection and got about 100Mbps in all rooms so I'm very happy with it. I'm not sure what role a splitter would play in a coax cable. But at least for my purpose I am happy with the product and the $90 price tag as opposed to the $180 MOCA Actiontec units.
