We used these to add USB outlets to our RV. We ran new wires from our existing lights and switches to add them. It took a bit of trial and error because the RV's wires and the new wires we bought and the wires on them were different colors, but once we got one of them out the rest was easy. We removed the latches on them - the springs are a little tight and difficult to open. It's a good dust cover, but we didn't feel it was a big risk in our RV. The blue light is terribly bright. We ended up wrapping a piece of tape around it and that helped a lot. This was the best price I found and so far they seem to be working well. We can charge our phones without shore power, and since each bed has an outlet, we can also use USB fans to keep the air circulating.
