My husband is picky and struggles to find belts he likes. These belts allow for cutting to make the length you need without appearing cut in any way, and the strap slides into itself (if that makes sense) to "hide" and not stick out. I'd say, as a wife, the belt looks between casual and dressy. They're simple yet nice and an all around great purchase. We got 2, one in 2 colors :)
