I live in an old apartment and they have replaced all but one of the 3 prong sockets. This is where I keep my coffee maker and wanted to add a smart plug to make it automatic. Problem! Smart sockets have three pins. I could put my coffee maker next to a three-pronged outlet, but that would mean they end up either on the dining table in the living room (which would drive me nuts) or in the kitchen, taking up valuable real estate on my *very* small counter. After some research and a stubborn decision not to move my coffee maker, I finally stumbled upon this strip/surge protector as a solution. With my Smart Plug it works like clockwork and I still have two free sockets and four (!) USB plugs available.
