I have been using this style of trackball for over 15 years starting with the original mechanical TrackMan, TrackMan Marble and TrackMan Wheel. I have a couple of M570s that I use with laptops, but they're not the best for a desktop workstation, and they're not as smooth as the old TrackMan, even after years of use. I get RSI on my wrist when using my mouse for more than an hour or two. They've always worked great. I had high hopes for this trackball, but returned to my TrackMan Wheel after a day or two. The main problem for me is that it is too small for my hand. If it were about 10% larger, it would fill my arm more than a TrackMan wheel. The distance between the keys is also a bit cramped. However, the general hand position suits me and the trackball is nice and smooth. I also really like the feel of the scroll wheel: it's way better than any Logitech scroll wheel. I mainly use it with Linux and don't worry about additional features. My KVM doesn't like it at all either, but so do other fancy gaming mice. All of this to say I'm using it now after my TrackMan wheel started going haywire. After a week or two I was able to get used to the small size. It would be a great trackball if it was a little bigger. The picture has the front of each aligned to show the difference in size.
