I have the same plastic manual scale version and have always had trouble reading the fine markings and sometimes got lost. With Avanson and its digital reader, that won't happen! That's what I love about the Avanson protractor. -- Readings increase to 0.1 degrees. -- The display will turn off automatically after 6 minutes. -- It comes with a spare battery. -- It turns on automatically when you move the blades. - The lock secures it securely to keep the measurement. - Stainless steel legs are sturdy and feel durable. -- You can rotate 180 to get metric or imperial measurements on the outside of the blades. -- $17 at the time of this review isn't a bad deal for such an accurate instrument. - A small complaint is that the screen is not backlit.
