Didn't work out of the box. The specification says it works with the laser from the same company (622). This is the second device and both didn't work right away with new batteries. Would turn on normally but would be completely blind to the green laser in ideal indoor conditions. Tried indoors at different distances, tried outdoors at different distances. Since the device doesn't have a threshold setting - just an on/off switch, there's nothing you can do wrong other than insert the battery the wrong way round - but the compartment is clearly marked. The power indicator lights up, all LEDs light up to indicate that they are working, and then the device is ready to receive. Tried another brand of red laser, no luck. DO NOT buy a 622 laser if you intend to use it outdoors as it is not bright enough for daylight. I have this laser and can only use it outside at sunrise or sunset. I think the lesson here is just buy a Bosch and pay the extra money.
