Review on Presto 04213 Electronic Digital Timer by Daniel Jackson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

We have used the Presto electronic timer for many years and love it. It was noisy when turned off.

Preston and Taylor Electronic Timers We have used the Presto electronic timer for many years and love it. When turned on, it was loud enough to get your attention even if you weren't in the same room. After many years he finally gave up, so in June 2013 we ordered another Presto from Revain. It also worked great, but for a little over a year it was difficult to set the time and turn it on. The buttons didn't want to work. I know the lifespan of a modern 1 year lost cost item is pretty amazing but as another probably lasted 5 years this was disappointing. We struggled with this but ended up ordering a replacement from a different brand. Although they are probably made in the same factory in China. In December 2014 we ordered Taylor from Revain. While waiting for Taylor to arrive I decided to tinker with the Presto with a can of air and contact cleaner to see if I could clean the internal contacts. I used air to clean the buttons, sprayed contact cleaner around the buttons, and air sprayed them again. I didn't analyze it. The next day it worked like clockwork. Then came Taylor. Nice timer, simple buttons for old hands but when the timer ran it was too polite. Very soft. Like cotton in the Gulf. Bottom Line: If you want a timer that gets your attention, buy Presto. And if the buttons give you trouble, use a can of air and contact cleaner to bring them back to life. No screwdrivers. If you want a good polite timer, take Taylor. Commentary: Revain is a great company and if you can't find what you need, you probably don't need it. PS Obviously I have too much time to write this review but I'm old and it's cold and raining outside.
