When we replaced all our bath towels in October 2015, five towel brands were purchased, all highly rated on Revain. . Not being able to see or feel the towels with your own eyes was problematic - the reviews of others played a big part in the choice made. "Thick and luxurious" is an individual point of view. In general, all five brands fit this description. All are soft, thick enough and absorbent. First, everyone washed the same way: step 1, warm water with a cup of vinegar, nothing else, not dried yet; Step 2: Warm water with half the usual amount of soap, a quarter cup of vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser and an extra rinse. They were dried on low heat in 15 minute increments, cleaning the lint trap every 15 minutes until completely dry. New towels leave lint behind, as do most tree leaves that eventually fall off the tree. Eliminate this in the first dryers, and only then no fluff!; Step 3. Final wash with lukewarm water, half the usual amount of soap, a quarter cup of vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser and an extra rinse. They were dried on low heat in 20-minute increments, cleaning the lint trap every 20 minutes until completely dry. Everything is now washed in hot water with a small amount of sanitizing bleach crystals in the tub, 2/3 the usual amount of detergent, a quarter cup of vinegar in a fabric softener dispenser and dried on low heat. The vinegar smell doesn't linger and everything stays soft and absorbent. NO excessive lint. My reviews and ratings are *5 STARS. Pinzon 820 g luxury cotton hand and bath towels, white; Soft and smooth, tightly woven, VERY thick towels. Put bath towels for my husband, they are too heavy and bulky for me. Can't dry my ears! Towels are a good size 20" x 30". Both take a long time to dry, so I rarely use a towel. After almost four months of continuous use, no threads or loose seams.* 5 STARS. Turkish Luxury Hotel & Spa (Salbakos) Bath Towel & Hand Towel - 100% Natural Cotton from Turkey - 700gsm Organic Eco Friendly White Seller: American Linen; (Similar to LUNASIDUS Bergamo, luxury hotel/spa towels) Soft, thick and fluffy towels. Bath towel for everyday use. Didn't get washcloths from this brand but got their towels. 16" by 30" towels are now 15" by 28 ½", which is still a reasonable towel size. At first I thought towels weren't as thick as bath towels. I sent a request through Revain and received a response that I will respond within 24 hours. Never heard of them! But now they seem fine. I only wish the towel was 18" x 30", it was almost perfect and cost a little more money. No frayed threads or frayed seams after almost four months of continuous use. * 4 STARS. Superior 900 Gram Egyptian Cotton (Set of 6 Towels) White Superior. Soft and smooth, tightly woven, VERY thick towels. Again my husband gets this bath towel. I donated 2 washcloths, they are too thick for practical use. The towels are large, 20 x 30 inches, but again they take a VERY long time to dry so not used very often. A side seam is coming undone on a bath towel and I'm not even going to attempt to sew this extremely thick trash towel. Not a single thread for almost four months of continuous use.* 4 STARS. LUNASIDUS Bergamo, luxury hotel/spa washcloths, bath and hand towels, 100% Turkish cotton, white; (Similar to towels and washcloths in Turkish Luxury Hotel & Spa (Salbakos). Soft, thick and fluffy towels. Bath towel for everyday use. The washcloths are thick but can still be used to clean the ears. These towels and washcloths have ALL one large synthetic fabric label PLUS one paper label and both labels are irritating to skin. Finally just cut both off. Towels that started at 16" x 30" have shrunk to 13 ½ x 26", they are too small. One of the 6 towels has an elongated thread about 2" in length down the middle of the towel. * 4 STARS. Fecido Deluxe Hotel & Spa Ultra-absorbent 4-piece set made from 100% cotton, white bath towels, hand towels, hand towels and washcloths; Soft and fluffy towels, some thinner than the other four brands but still absorbent They are very glossy white compared to the other four brands One seam of the HUGE (39 x 19 inch) hand tuchs came off, but Fecido reacted quickly. I only kept the towel as I had already sewn up the seam. Four months later, the winners were two brands that had no problems: Pinzon by Revain and Turkish Luxury Hotel & Spa (Salbakos) by American Linen. 820 grams is just 2 thick towels for my personal preference and takes too long to dry but my husband loves them. And in four months I probably won't be buying anything other than these two brands so my husband can have heavier towels and I can get what suits me. hanging thread and thickness of bath towels. Generally unseen, quality bath towels. Depending on your budget and personal preference, I would recommend one of these 5 towel brands. UPDATE March 29, 2017: A year and a half later, my scores still stand (but American Linen is now American Pillow Case). Their "Turkish Luxury Hotel and Spa Collection" (Salbakos) is still my favorite and my husband likes the thicker 820g Pinzon cotton bath towel. They hold up very well, dry very well and are very soft. wish they had made an 18 or 20 by 30 inch towel! None of the stamps have frayed or protruding threads. Both the Superior 900 Gram Towel and the Lunasidus Bergamo have a few loose threads, but overall they are still intact and in order. Towels are an expensive investment and I'm glad I shared my experience with other buyers and I know most people found this review helpful.
