Installed in my VW 74 Thing along with a blue Bosch coil. In 5 minutes it caught fire for the first time in over 30 years! The instructions were good except for the lack of information on where to connect the vacuum port on the Vertigo. The fitting should be connected to the carburetor vacuum fitting facing the dizziness, just at or below the carburetor throat. I also noticed that there is a rubber bumper under the rotor cover. In my case the buffer lay on its side instead of lying flat. Whoever assembled it jammed the rotor and damaged the groove in the rotor, but not enough to warrant replacing. I disassembled the buffer and reinstalled the rotor, no problem. I had no problems with the o-ring, I smeared it with grease and the shaft went in fine, others say to use an old o-ring but I didn't. The wiring is also long enough to reach about 12 inches, so you can cut it to the length you want and then crimp the connectors. I added a protective sleeve and heat shrink tubing to protect the wires. Every VW with point fraud should be replaced by a similar electronic unit. What a sight when an engine forgotten for 30 years has come to life and works so well!
