Too demanding filter; puts a strain on HVAC itself
I found out today that I should never have bought this MERV 16 filter due to the strain it puts on our HVAC system. (I learned this from a knowledgeable on-site service technician who checks our Trane system every six months.) These filters really stress the blower and burn out the system. The smaller filters (even the MERV 11) are actually designed to allow the system to be bled enough for all components to function properly and have their normal lifespan. So buy if you want, but in hindsight I regret the purchase.
