Review on πŸ”‘ Logitech Craft Wireless Keyboard with Input Dial & Backlit Keys, Dark Grey & Aluminum - Advanced Creative Tool by Dorota Dorota ᠌

Expected more from the purchase, but not the worst option.

I needed a keyboard that would allow me to work efficiently on both a smartphone and a personal computer, and this one did not disappoint. I had the option of purchasing a model with or without a wheel, and I went with the option that included a wheel. It serves zero purpose for me in any way. Because the wheel pitch in graphic editors is so minute, there is no way to zoom in or out or perform any other function with it. The wheel can be operated in two different ways: step-by-step or free torsion. It appears that some kind of motor is responsible for this feature on the inside of the wheel. When switching from one mode to another, the mode wheel makes a loud crunching sound, and the modes behave differently depending on the application. I was unable to figure out why this was the case. That never ceases to be terrifying. As a direct consequence of this, the only controls that remained on the wheel were the volume settings. Because the brain is so lousy at remembering contexts, it turns out that another bad idea was to customize the behavior of the wheel to be different depending on the application. For instance, you are working on something in Figma or Photoshop, and you want to lower the volume of the sound. You touch the wheel, but in your editor, another function is now assigned to the wheel. As a consequence of this, you will need to go on to a different program in which the wheel may be used to control the sound and then move back. Shortcuts are more convenient than functional buttons like a calculator or a screenshot because you don't need to change the position of your hands and reach for the buttons. I'm not used to using functional buttons like those. The upper metal strip is useless; it's merely there to take up space for the twist's sake. In most cases, you won't miss anything by transporting Claudia without a wheel; in fact, you'll end up saving money.

Pros
  • Workable on both Mac and PC platforms! Excellent quality of plastic on the keys. Calm and Weighty, it fits the table like a glove and stands there.
Cons
  • It only takes a few days for the battery to die, which is a terrible waste of time. The cable is laid out on the table so that if anything needs to be plugged in, it can be done so quickly. Every time I hear the wheel crunch, it gives me the creeps.
