Forget the generator - get the Phoenix Renogi!

Living in Tampa, Florida, I expected the power to go out for a while after a direct hit from Hurricane Irma. We only have 1 million devices that need charging. Two handheld ham radios, two Apple iPads, three cell phones, etc., etc. Florida had fuel problems for almost a week before the storm, so I knew I didn't want to mess around with a portable generator. In addition to the generator itself, you need to get the fuel yourself and gas canisters. All three things are in high demand in the days leading up to the storm. I ordered the Renogy Phoenix and miraculously it was ready for shipment with same day delivery. I also ordered an additional Renogy solar panel. To be honest, my expectations were low. The features and specs seemed too good to be true, but I figured it would allow me to at least keep my phones working when needed. Conclusion: This thing is amazing; Renogi delivered. It just works. Build quality is high and it includes a range of adapters/cables for easy charging and consuming. Tip: Get a 100W monocrystalline solar panel as well. Once you set this thing up, you'll be everyone's best friend around you, and you're going to need some extra energy! I made the mistake of buying a lower powered panel - don't. You need the loading speed and extra "bandwidth" to handle the shade of the trees or the overcast day right after a thunderstorm. I highly recommend this model: RENOGY Foldable Solar Suitcase Kit 100W Mono without Controller Charging. No matter what additional panel you get, you do NOT need to buy a charge controller. At first it wasn't clear and I had to search a little. Renogy Phoenix includes an internal charge controller. Tip #2: After a thunderstorm, when the power goes out and everyone is working in daylight, you lie in bed at night and notice the silence. It's *quiet* without any working air conditioning around. Exception: A guy who sits in his house without offering to help his neighbors while running a 6000-watt generator that sounds like a goddamn lawnmower hooked up to a blower with no silencer. If you're that type of guy, your neighbors will hate you. YOU. Don't be that type. Theoretical fraud: plastic caps. Plastic. I doubt their durability. However, this does not affect the usability of the product and would not affect my purchase decision.
