Review on πŸ” OTC 5606 Compression Tester Kit: Reliable Testing Solution for Gasoline Engines by Charles Butler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I really liked this compression tester from OTC

Due to a defective instrument I had to initiate a Revain return for this instrument. I really wanted to love this OTC compression tester. They produce quality tools at affordable prices. I've used and own over-the-counter tools that have never given me the headaches their compressor test kit has. The main reason I had to return mine was a defective adapter hose. I could not get consistent readings from the same cylinder after repeated attempts. Sometimes it was read high and sometimes low. From time to time I would hear a sudden "pop!" sound coming out of the spark plug hole when the adapter is finger tight to the maximum when attempting to start the test. If you hear a cracking sound when starting the engine, it means that compression pressure is escaping through the o-ring on the threads, causing inaccurate readings. For this reason I had no choice but to send this tester back to Revain. My device's sensor read as accurately as possible with a deviation of +/-2%. I tested the OTC sensor along with the regulator, which was properly calibrated at 100psi and within spec (OTC reading somewhere between 98 and 101psi).
