Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good cable but missing key function (see details)

Don't forget that IXEVER DisplayPort 1.4 6.6ft DP-DP [4K@144Hz, 8K@60Hz] 32.4Gbps cable works well. DP 1.4 is essentially an electrical performance standard and IXEVER seems to be getting some criticism. I've used it with a couple of 4k displays and a 5k display with no issues. The cable looks well made, with a herringbone nylon sleeve. Connector housing and strain relief are cast together. The color and style might not be for everyone, but I like it. The cable even comes with reusable Velcro for cable management. So why 3 stars? Simply put, there are no connector latches on the cable. IXVER's price is comparable to most other brands of similar renown, but many other DP cables have clip or push locks. Why don't you need a blocking plug? The lack of blocking makes HDMI bad if you have a lot of connections. Also, it's not like it used to be when you had a 1/4" thumbscrew that you could unscrew from either end of your VGA or DVI cable. Really, that's it. The orange color on the sides of the connector cover led me to believe it was a locking connector - but it's not.

Pros
  • HDMI cable
Cons
  • Security
