Review on ASUS VG24VQE Gaming Curved Monitor: 💻 165Hz, Adaptive Sync, Flicker-Free, Blue Light Filter by Cory Shepherd

I bought this monitor to play FPS games on console in semi-competitive mode (Game Battles, MLG game types, Skirmishes, Sweats, etc.). Halo, Call of Duty, Battlefield and actually Destiny. To my knowledge this monitor is not suitable for PC gaming as high end PC gaming monitors are clocked above 144Hz and beyond. But for a console that runs all games at 60 fps or less, based on the specs I thought it was a good buy. Good size, less than $200 and low input lag. Before that I played on a 72 inch Samsung family TV. I did a little research and I believe the input lag was around 78.9ms. advertised as 1ms, but you need to consider the actual delay from console to monitor). I took it out of the box and it took me maybe 30 minutes to figure out all the settings and get the brightness and balance and set everything up. I plugged in my Xbox 360 (yes, 360, fuck Xbox One) and started playing. I didn't notice any difference from the TV I'm used to. hit and my movements got a little better, but I attributed it to a placebo effect. I then returned home for the holidays, took my 360 with me and hooked it back up to the 72-inch Samsung I mentioned earlier. OH GOD. It was unplayable. I noticed input lag as soon as I got to the Destiny main menu. I played two doubles matches with a friend on Destiny and could barely move or shoot accurately. I felt like I was walking through jelly. After that I stopped playing during a break. I went back to college with my ASUS and lo and behold everything was perfect. Imperceptible input lag, movements and recordings are crisp and precise again. That's when I realized how different this monitor is. After that I played a lot of competitive games and tried to improve as much as possible. Sweating it out on Destiny, I've played and landed hits that wouldn't have been possible in a million years on a 72-inch screen. I've gone from being an above average player to one of the best Destiny players in the world right now (he's currently hovering between #1 and #2 thanks to clan members). Is this monitor magic? no If you're a bad gamer, this monitor won't magically improve you. But if like me you play at a semi-competitive level, you play well above average and you want a good gaming monitor to maximize your performance. To be honest I'm not a monitor specialist so I can't say which is better but I can say that I'm more than satisfied with this monitor. In my opinion one of the best gaming monitors you can buy for less than $200. ts until now (three months of ownership; will be updated if problems arise). Highly recommended.
